Elections

The IACA will elect two Board positions this year:

  • Vice President of Membership
  • Secretary

The average anticipated workload of the above position is approximately 15 hours per week, and significantly more during peak times of the year and at the annual conference. These roles includes a three-year term. 

The election process is governed by the IACA Bylaws and the policies and procedures as determined in the IACA Election Committee’s Charter. 

IACA members who have been a member in good standing for at least two years prior to nomination are allowed to self-nominate. You can confirm your membership status in your profile.

Election Event Schedule

  1. July 21, 2025:  Announce elections process via Announcements Forum.
  2. July 21-August 11, 2025:  Self-nomination phase. Click here to self-nominate
    1. Candidates must self-nominate. 
    2. Candidates shall be a member in good standing and have been a confirmed IACA member for a minimum of two years prior to running for a position.
    3. Candidates will only be permitted to run for one position open in any given election year.
  3. August 14, 2025:  Deadline for nominees to submit optional campaign statements and videos (email to [email protected]). 
  4. August 18, 2025:  Campaign statements and videos posted to the IACA Elections Candidates webpage and Elections Forum
  5. September 8, 2025:  Voting opens.
  6. September 8-12, 2025:  IACA Annual Training Conference.
  7. October 8, 2025:  Voting closes.
  8. October 9-13, 2025:  Tallying phase. 
  9. October 14, 2025 (no later than):  IACA Board & candidates notified of the results.    
  10. October 17, 2025 (no later than):  Announce results to membership via Announcements Forum.

Duties and Responsibilities

Vice President of Membership

  • To chair the Membership Committee, if formed under the provisions of Article VII. This committee provides an exemplary service to IACA’s members in respect of onboarding, renewals, and addressing membership-related inquiries. This applied to all members globally, regardless of their type of membership (Individual, Individual Affiliated, Regional Association Member, Chapter Association Member, Volunteer, or Agency Member). Responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining the association’s current membership roster;
  • Managing all application, recruitment and renewal efforts;
  • Responding to all membership-related inquiries within 72-hours.
  • In the event of the permanent or long-term absence or inability of the President and the Vice President of Administration to exercise the office of President, to become acting President of the association, with all the right, privileges, and powers as if having been the duly elected President.  
  • To otherwise perform the duties and responsibilities of the President during the temporary absence of the President and the Vice President of Administration.   
  • The Vice President of Membership is currently the direct board liaison to the following committees: Membership, International Development, Certification, and Chapters. Board liaison roles are subject to change depending on the needs of the IACA.

Secretary

  • To keep the minutes and records of the association;
  • To ensure that all documents required by law and by the IACA bylaws are properly kept and filed;
  • To handle and serve official correspondence and notices to the membership, except those addressed by other officers and committee members, as natural extensions of their responsibilities;
  • To edit and publish all publications of the association, except where otherwise provided;
  • To be the official custodian of all records.   
  • The Secretary is currently the direct board liaison to the following committees: Ethics, Bylaws, Marketing, and Mail Assistant. Board liaison roles are subject to change depending on the needs of the IACA.

 

The Elections Committee will receive and respond to any complaints about election procedures or refer them to the IACA Ethics Committee.
