Elections

There is one IACA Board position up for election this year:

  • Vice President of Administration

The average anticipated workload of the above position is approximately 15 hours per week, and significantly more during peak times of the year and at the annual conference. This role includes a three-year term. 

The election process is governed by the IACA Bylaws and the policies and procedures as determined in the IACA Election Committee’s Charter. 

IACA members who have been a member in good standing for at least two years prior to nomination are allowed to self-nominate.  You can confirm your membership status in your profile.

Schedule of Election Events

  1. July 17, 2023:  Announce elections process via Announcements Forum.
  2. July 17-August 11, 2023:  Self-nomination phase. 
    1. Candidates must self-nominate. 
    2. Candidates shall be a member in good standing and have been a confirmed IACA member for a minimum of two years prior to running for a position.
    3. Candidates will only be permitted to run for one position open in any given election year.
  3. August 18, 2023:  Deadline for nominees to submit optional campaign statements and videos. 
  4. August 19, 2023:  Campaign statements and videos posted to the IACA Elections webpage and Forum. 
  5. August 28, 2023:  Voting opens.
  6. August 28-September 1, 2023:  IACA Annual Training Conference.
  7. September 30, 2023:  Voting closes.
  8. October 1-5, 2023:  Tallying phase. 
  9. October 6, 2023:  IACA Board & candidates notified of the results. 
  10. October 9, 2023:  Voting phase re-opens. For details visit the Announcements Forum.
  11. October 20, 2023:  Voting closes.
  12. October 21-25, 2023:  Tallying phase.
  13. October 26, 2023 (no later than):  IACA Board & candidates notified of the results.   
  14. October 27, 2023 (no later than):  Announce results to membership via Announcements Forum.

The Vice President of Administration has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • In the event of the permanent or long-term absence or inability of the President to exercise the Office of the President, to become acting President of the association, with all the rights, privileges, and powers as if having been the duly elected President;

  • To otherwise perform the duties and responsibilities of the President during the temporary absence of the President;

  • To manage projects and perform administrative tasks as assigned by the President;

  • To handle administrative functions of the association not specifically given to other Officers or Committees. 

The VP of Administration is currently the direct board liaison to the following committees: Regional Associations Committee (RAC), International Symposium Committee (once established) and Conference Committee. This position is also extremely active in several of the other IACA committees and board liaison roles are subject to change. 

The Elections Committee will receive and respond to any complaints about election procedures or refer them to the IACA Ethics Committee.
