TxDOT’s Crash Records Information System (CRIS) offers a treasure trove of vehicle crash data that is easy to access, comprehensive, clean, and as timely as reporting agencies allow. It is also a critical resource for analysts everywhere because most policing agencies are responding to far more crashes than crimes. CRIS data can help analysts to determine the where, when, how, who, and even why of crashes to support more effective deployment of resources.

The learning objectives for this webinar include:

  • An overview of the CRIS query process used to easily and efficiently access the data needed for basic to advanced analysis of crashes
  • An awareness of the spatial elements to consider for comprehensive crash analysis
  • Instruction on data formatting necessary to accurately analyze contributing factors and other crash elements.
