Presenter: Heather L (Crime Analyst – Grand Prairie Police Dept., TX)

Behind every solid crime analysis should be clean, reliable data. This session dives into the real-world challenges analysts face-messy records, coding errors, incomplete records-and how to fix them. Participants will explore practical strategies for cleaning, validating, and maintaining data accuracy so their analyses, dashboards, and reports tell the full and correct story. Whether you’re preparing data for a hotspot map or a command briefing, this session will help you make your numbers work for you, not against you.

This event is free for VCAN members and $10 for non-members. This presentation is open to those inside and outside of law enforcement and this presentation will be recorded.

Event is on Friday March 30, 2026, from 1pm – 3pm Eastern Time. Registration closes at COB on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Login details will be sent by COB on Wednesday March 18, 2026.
