Description

This is a 12-week online course designed to help prospective crime analysts get hired in the field. There are things you will learn in school, and then there will be things you will learn on the job, but what about everything else in between? What do you do after graduation? How do you even find a job? What is a portfolio, let alone what goes into one? In this 12-weeks hands-on course, we will bridge the gap between the classroom and the field to prepare you for that first day on the job. By the end of this course, you should have a cover letter, resume, and products you can use for a portfolio; you’ll also walk away with an enhanced knowledge of the job search and application process in addition to tools to continue your career journey. The target audience for this course are students, aspiring analysts, and those looking to change careers.

Format

This class is for beginners, no experience as an analyst is necessary.

Students should expect a time commitment of 3-5 hours per week to gain a passing grade. The course will be graded as a pass/fail and is entirely dependent on your participation. This is not a self-paced course; we will advance to each new topic week as a group. Students can login anytime to work as needed. There are only two live sessions (Weeks 6 and 12) but they will be recorded if you cannot attend live. Participation throughout the course is required for a passing grade. As a rule, bulk submissions of your work during the last week of class will not be accepted unless you have received prior authorization from the instructor.

This class does not offer any job guarantees.

Invitations to the learning platform will be sent the weekend before class starts.
